Know before you dig
What line locating is for
Water, sewer and gas lines run underground where nobody can see them, and a shovel or post-hole digger finds them the hard way. Line locating traces those pipes from above and marks their path, so you know where it is safe to dig and where to keep clear. It is also how a plumber finds a buried line that needs repair.
The utilities mark their own lines when you file a call-before-you-dig request. Private lines on your side, such as the pipe from the water meter to the house, the sewer line leaving it, or a gas line run out to a grill or heater in the yard, are generally the owner’s to locate.
Locating gear rides on the trucks alongside a sewer camera, so a crew can trace a line and look inside it on the same visit. If the camera finds a break or a blockage, the locator shows where on the surface the trouble sits, which keeps any digging small.

Water providers and routes
Depending on your address, water comes from the City of Chino or, in portions of the city, Monte Vista Water District. Generally, the provider handles the line up to and including the meter. From the meter to the house, and everything inside, is the owner’s side and where a plumber does the work.
Chino is in San Bernardino County and borders Chino Hills, Ontario and Eastvale, all of which are on our service list and covered by the same crews with the same equipment.
The 60 crosses the north of the city, the 71 runs along the Chino Hills side, and Euclid Avenue doubles as State Route 83 between the Chino Hills and Ontario borders.
