What a sewer camera inspection actually shows
A camera inspection turns a guess into a diagnosis. It shows where the problem is, what it is, and whether the line needs cleaning or repair.

How it works
A waterproof camera on a flexible cable is fed into the line through a cleanout. The plumber watches the feed as it travels, and the cable length tells us how far down the line each problem is. With locating gear, we can also find the camera head from above ground, so we know where a problem sits under the yard.
What it can find
- Tree roots entering through joints
- Grease and scale buildup
- Cracked, broken or collapsed sections
- Sags where water and waste collect
- Offset joints and separated pipe
The camera is how we find the cause, not just the symptom.
When it is worth doing
A camera inspection makes sense after a main line clog, when the same drain keeps backing up, before buying an older home, or before any repair that means digging. Every American Made Plumbing truck carries camera and locating gear, so the inspection can often happen on the same visit as the cleaning.
